How to Begin

Download and install the Laserfiche app from the Windows Store, . If you are outside of your organization's local network, sign in to your organization's VPN, then open the Laserfiche app.

On-Premises
  1. If you are using on-premises, enter your Laserfiche Mobile Server URL in the Mobile Server URL box (e.g., https://LaserficheAppServer/mobile). If you have signed in before, you can use the drop-down menu to select a server you previously connected to. If the defined server has been configured to use SSL, https:// will be appended to the front of the URL. If it has not configured to use SSL, http:// will be appended.
  2. Press Next.

  3. The default repository and Forms server configured on the Laserfiche Mobile Configuration page will be selected by default and listed under the Sign in button. To edit them, press Change Repository/Forms Server.
    1.  The repositories available on that server will be populated in the Repository drop-down menu. Use the drop-down arrow and select the repository you want to connect to. If you are only using Forms, select None for the repository.

      Entering the following URL syntax into an internet browser will open the app and auto-populate the repository:

      lfmobile://LaserficheAppServer/mobile/index.aspx?db=RepositoryName.

    2. If the Laserfiche Mobile Server entered has one or more Laserfiche Forms servers configured, select the Forms server you want to connect to from the Forms Server drop-down menu. If only one Forms server is configured, that one will be displayed. If you are only using a repository, select None under Forms Server.

      Entering the following URL syntax into an internet browser will open the app and auto-populate the Forms server:

      lfmobile://LaserficheAppServer/mobile/index.aspx&forms=http%3A%2F%2FFormsServer%2FForms%2F.

      FormsServer must be the exact Forms server configured on the Laserfiche Mobile Server Configuration Page.

      Entering the following URL syntax into an internet browser will open the app and auto-populate the repository and Forms server:

      lfmobile://LaserficheAppServer/mobile/index.aspx?db=RepositoryName&forms=http%3A%2F%2FFormsServer%2FForms%2F.

      Note: If your administrator has not configured a Laserfiche Forms server on the Laserfiche Mobile Server Configuration page, you will not see the Forms Server option and will not be able to interact with forms.

    3. Press Confirm.
  4. If your organization only uses Windows credentials, select the Windows authentication checkbox. If you are signing in as a Laserfiche repository user, enter your username after the back slash (\). If signing in with Windows credentials, remove the back slash (\) before entering your Windows credentials.

    Note: An administrator can configure a default domain name on the Laserfiche Mobile Server Configuration page so you do not have to type one in. If a default domain name is configured, and you want to sign in as a repository user, add a slash before your username, e.g., \Misty.

  5. Important: Laserfiche does not control the functionality of and does not have access to your fingerprint(s). If you use to sign in to Laserfiche, any user who has saved a fingerprint on the device will also be able to sign in to Laserfiche.

    Note:  is not supported when signing in using Laserfiche Directory Server.

  6. If the Laserfiche Mobile Server URL you enter has a Laserfiche Directory Server configured, you will be redirected to a Laserfiche Directory Server sign-in page where you can sign in using a Laserfiche Directory Server account and take advantage of the single sign-on feature. The default repository and Forms server, configured under Connection on the Mobile Server Configuration page, will be selected by default. To change the repository and/or Forms server to connect to, press Change Repository/Forms Server at the bottom. Choose your desired organization, enter your username and password, and press Sign In.
  7. Tip: If https://LaserficheAppServer/mobile returns the error: "The server could not be found," try using your Laserfiche Mobile Server's IP address in the URL instead: https://IPAddress/mobile.

  8. Signing out and back in directs you to the page where you enter your credentials. You do not need to reconfigure the repository and Forms server you previously connected to.

If an administrator requires you to change your password after signing in, you will be presented with an option to do so.

Cloud
  1. If you are connecting to Laserfiche Cloud, press Sign in to Cloud on the first sign-in page.
  2. Enter your Laserfiche Cloud account ID number, then press Next.
  3. If your account is configured to use Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), press Sign in with ADFS. If your account is not configured to sign in using ADFS, enter your username and password, and press Sign In.
  4. To initially set up to sign in, first, ensure the device has enabled. Then, on the app's sign-in page, press the option at the bottom that says . You will see a message instructing you to sign in with your password. Sign in to the app with your username and password or ADFS. Once signed in, you will see a prompt asking if you want to use . Press Yes and accept the Terms and Conditions. Use your finger to sign in. You can turn off or on in the apps' Settings. If there are too many failed  authentication attempts, you will be asked to enter your device passcode in order to try again.

Note: Signing in with is only supported on one device at a time. The sign-in will be reset and you will have to re-enable the option when you switch devices.

Offline Mode

Access documents and folders that have been created offline, saved from Laserfiche, or offline tasks and forms. If this is your first time to open the app after installing it, you will not have any offline documents, folders, forms, or tasks saved.

If you previously saved copies of documents, forms, or tasks offline, this option lets you access those items on your local device. For more information, see Working with Offline Documents and Folders, Offline Forms, and Offline Tasks. You can also capture documents and edit them on a local device without signing in to a repository. For more information, see New Offline Documents and Folders.

Offline Documents

Test drive the app

Create a new temporary account to test drive the app.

  1. Press Test drive the app to register for or sign in with a temporary account or with your Support Site email and password.
  2. If your organization does not yet have the Laserfiche app, press Register at the top and create a temporary account that lets you explore the app's features with a sample repository. Each user with a temporary account can add and edit documents in their own repository, but they cannot see or access documents from other users.
    • In the Email and Password fields, provide your email address and a password. This information will become your temporary account credentials.
    • In the corresponding fields, provide your first name, last name, phone number, organization, country, and state (if applicable).
    • Press Register.
  3. If you already have a temporary or Support Site account, press Sign In at the top.
  4. Enter your email address and password.
    • Select the Remember me checkbox if you want the app to remember your password. If the app closes or your connection terminates unexpectedly, you will be automatically signed back in once you re-open the app. Your password will be cleared if you sign out of the app normally.
    • If you can't remember your password, use the Forgot your password? link. You will be prompted to enter your email address.
    • Press Submit and Laserfiche will send you a link to create a new password. Laserfiche will send an email to the email address specified for the temporary account. Click the link in the email to activate your account. Sign in to the app with your newly created account to test drive it.
  5. Once signed in, you will have access to a "sandbox" repository where you can add entries, edit fields (sample templates and fields are included in the trial), and more. However, other people cannot add to or see this repository. Additionally, the entries in this repository are not secure and can be accessed by Laserfiche staff.

    Note: If a temporary account is used improperly, it will be blocked.
