Annotation Text Search

You can search for all documents that contain a sticky note, text box, or callout text box with a particular word or phrase in the annotation's text. You can use wildcards to create a more flexible search, or learn about searching for annotation content using advanced search syntax.

To search by annotation content

1. In the Search Pane, click Customize Search and select Basic Search.

1. In the Search terms text box, type the annotation text you want to locate.
2. Under Search within, select Annotation Text.
3. Click Search.

Tip: To open an annotation and the page it appears on, double-click the desired context hit. Context hits appear in the bottom pane of the Search Results window.

Note: Performing an annotation text search is not the same as performing a text search. Annotation text searches will not return results from the text pages of a document. Likewise, a text search will not return results from a document's annotations.
