Importing Files

Any file can be imported into a Laserfiche repository. For example, you can import previously scanned images, PDFs, Word documents, and other electronic files. When importing files, you can specify basic document properties, such as the name of the document, the folder where it will be stored, and field data.

To import images

  1. Open the folder where you want to store imported files.
  2. From the File menu, select Import. The ClosedImport Files dialog box will appear.

  3. From the Files of type list, select "TIFF files (*.tif)".
  4. Select SAMPLE1.TIF, SAMPLE2.TIF, SAMPLE3.TIF, and SAMPLE4.TIF. If you do not see these sample images, navigate to <Install Directory>\Laserfiche\Client 8
  5. Click Import. The ClosedImport to Laserfiche dialog box will appear for each document being created. In this case, it will appear four times.

  6. If you do not want to change the default settings that will be applied to the document being created, click OK. Repeat this step until all desired documents have been created.

To import electronic files

  1. From the File menu, select Import. The ClosedImport Files dialog box will appear.

  2. Select any file you would like to import into the Laserfiche repository.
  3. Click Import. The ClosedImport to Laserfiche dialog box will appear for each document being created. In this case, it will appear a single time.

  4. If you do not want to change the default settings that will be applied to the document being created, click OK. The selected file will be stored in the currently opened Laserfiche folder.

Note: If the desired type of file is not displayed in the Import Files dialog box, try setting the Files of type option to "All files (*.*)."
