OCR Guidelines
The following are suggestions for better OCR results.
- Only OCR images with clear typewritten or printed text. Do not OCR images that consist primarily of handwritten text, photographs, or other artwork.
- If your document does not have typewritten or typeset text, use a template to carefully categorize it for easy retrieval later.
- Ensure the page is correctly rotated. If you can clearly read the text on an image without needing to rotate it, the text on the image will be recognized. You can configure automatic image rotation in the Image Clean-up Options dialog box, or you can manually rotate mis-rotated pages.
- Text that appears too dark or too light may OCR with mixed results. To correct images that are too light or too dark, rescan or perform image enhancements on them.
- Laserfiche's OCR engine recognizes most typed and typeset text between 6 and 24 points in size. Ultimately, the accuracy of the OCR depends largely on the clarity of the original document.
