TWAIN

Selecting and configuring a scan source is one step in the Preparing to Scan process for both Basic and Standard Mode. This topic covers the selection and configuration of the TWAIN scan source.

TWAIN enables you to capture images using a scanner with TWAIN drivers. To use this scan source, a TWAIN driver appropriate for the desired scanner must be installed on your machine. This driver will be provided by your scanner's manufacturer.

Selecting and configuring this scan source

  1. Select Choose Scan Source under ClosedFile in the menu bar.

  2. In the Choose Scan Type dialog box, select TWAIN from the drop-down box. Check Show Scan Source Setup. Click OK.
  3. Choose a scanner from the drop-down box. If your scanner is not listed, install the scanner's TWAIN driver. Click OK.
  4. Select Scanner Options under File in the menu bar.
  5. Configure scanner settings. Alternatively, if you would like to configure scanner options using your scanner's software, select Default scanner software.

Note: If you chose to use the scanning software provided for your scanner, scanning options will appear after you click the button from the toolbar.

Tip: For more scanner configuration options, see Scanner Settings under File in the menu bar.
